Taiwan - Feb 2020 (COVID-19) Pre-Circuit Breaker (Part 2)

Continuing my post on my trip to Taiwan in February 2020! If you have not read the previous post on Taiwan - Hualien, Taichung and Sun Moon Lake, read it here

Once we reached Taipei, we took the subway to Ximengding and walked to our Airbnb. At first we could not find the way up but it turns out that we had to approach the security guard and he will let us up. There was this very strong pee/pets smell at the first unit along the walkway but thank god there was no smell in our apartment. As of now, the apartment listing has been taken down from Airbnb. We settled down at almost midnight so we decided to just sleep lol.

Had Ah Zhong Mee Sua + bubble tea at Xi Men Ding for lunch the next day, before heading to Beitou via subway. Visited the thermal valley and decided to visit a hot spring but the ones around thermal valley are like super expensive! Thus, we decided to take a cab and go somewhere cheaper lol. It was quite pathetic but it is for 2 pax + private bath.

We soaked for about an hour before we took a grab to Shilin night market. Had our dinner and soufflé for desserts before we headed to Ning Xia night market for another round of food.

Slept into the afternoon and went to Bear One for lunch. It's a hotpot/bbq buffet with free flow Taiwan beer and ice cream (Häagen-Dazs and movenpick). The boys KO-ed so it was like me and Kams finishing everything. #没吃饭的家伙 image

And on the day I wore a short skirt... it was super cold + raining ded. We went to Song Shan for Wu Fen Pu. I would say there isn't much to shop but if you comb every shop, you can still find stuff to buy for 100 TWD = about 5SGD. I got a coat for my Japan trip at 100 TWD. :> But the guys waited for us at Song Shan station because they were done and tired lol.

Initially I wanted to attend a dance class at HRC but in the end I was not feeling well (aka cramps). So me and Simyi decided to walk around the area while Ben attended the class at Zhongxiao East. Got a pair of shoes which Brendan did not approve (he says it is ugly) but I got it because it was like $20 lol. And he freaking disapprove all the Gracegift X Disney bags that I wanted lol.

Went to buy some masks as some shop was like having a clearance and it was cheaper than anywhere else lol. We then headed back to our Airbnb to put down our barangs before heading back to Xi Men Ding for snacks and to properly shop. Met with Wenda who was there for his 7K wedding photoshoot trip lol.

Booked a day trip with Klook for a day trip to Yehliu, Jiufen and Shifen because we calculated that it would be about the same cost and there would be a lot of transfers + walking if we were to head to everywhere ourselves.

However, we didn't have much time at Jiufen because it was a holiday that day thus the roads were quite jammed. We were supposed to have lunch at Jiufen but by the time we shopped and reached the top, it was time to head back to the bus. image

(ps. I think the photographer at Shifen took really nice photos lol)

The bus dropped us at Taipei main station and we went back to our Airbnb to drop our stuff (again). Had cravings for mala so randomly found a stall (夠嗆麻辣香鍋 Gouqiang Mala Hot Pot) at Ximending but we all agreed that it was good + really 夠嗆 lol. We also went to an arcade with baseball field located at Xi Men Ding (大聯盟棒壘球打擊場). They have everything man - arcade, shooting, baseball, football, basketball, did all my exercise there lol.

On our last day, we deposited our bags at the basement (which was quite shady but we dgaf). Visited the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall to catch the changing of guards and then went to Taipei 101 for lunch.

And back to more last minute shopping and dinner at Xi Men Ding before taking a cab (cause too many bags lol) to the airport. I was so broke I had to borrow money from Kams to get my noodles at the airport aka I spent all my money lolololol. Took the flight back (almost 1/3 full) and got stuck at immigration because my fingers were too dry to detect my fingerprints lol. That's it for my Taiwan trip and I was back in Singapore for 5 days before I left for Japan. image

This post isn't as long as I thought it would be. Till the next post, byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.image
